Why First Drafts?

Well Anne Lamott said that’s what makes great writing, “So the two most important things about writing are: bird by bird and really god-awful first drafts. If you don’t know where to start, remember that every single thing that happened to you is yours, and you get to tell it.”

I have another site for poetry and prayers here. I hope those will be a little cleaner.

So I am telling you about my birds, my stories without making them pretty–just the goal of making them. And here is where I need you–I need the common copy editors, the everyday grammar folks and the opinions of those that would like to see these drafts get better. So add your comments, tell me what you like, love and loath–but also don’t be a jerk, Anne also said, “If people wanted you to write more warmly about them, they should have behaved better.”

So if you have something to add, suggest or question–please–please comment and share with others that can offer their thoughts as well.

Thank you!
